The expansion project continues to reach major milestones as construction advances at the Santa Maria Airport. With the full foundation now poured, covering an area nearly the size of a football field, the project has moved steadily into its next phase. Preparations are underway for the assembly of the steel frame, marking the transition from groundwork to vertical construction on the new 22-acre campus. The grand opening is anticipated to be celebrated in 2026.
2021
Land Agreement Signed
The Santa Maria Airport and Planes of Fame Air Museum signed an agreement for 23 acres of land for the new museum campus in December of 2021.
2022-2024
Steel Structure Fabrication
The off site design, engineering, and manufacturing of the steel aircraft hangar structure began in June of 2022.
2024 - 2025
On Site Construction
One site construction of Phase One will include Building "Alpha", the parking lot, aircraft ramp, and security fencing.
2026
Grand Opening
The museum anticipates celebrating its Grand Opening in 2026.
